The association was formed in 2011 around the research of Franck Nathié, holistic researcher and author in permaculture with the aim of: promote and experiment with sustainable lifestyles and development for ecology, the local economy and humans. Disseminating the ethics of permaculture and developing French-speaking resources to create autonomous and resilient ecosystems” The association began by publishing books based on the synthesis of Franck's research and by producing films retracing the work of pioneering permaculturists (Philip Forrer, Ferme Arc-en-Ciel, Jardin des Fraternités Ouvrières, Ferme Yggdrazil, Ferme du Bec Hellouin, etc.) Then, La Forêt Nourricière has created a support process (training sites) allowing project leaders to be guided in the realization of their design. Over the years, this process has allowed trainees to benefit from concrete case studies and has fueled our research with both global and precise analyzes in very different biotopes, which has made it possible to deepen the “Permaculture in Temperate Climate” database. Our research focuses on two interrelated areas: The Earth: How to eat in an ecological way by improving our environment? Human: How to create sustainable human communities?
