/// OPERATIVE NOTES ///
5 acre homestead incorporating swales, grazing cells for animals, food forests for people and animals, an aquaponics gardening system, and ponds for waterfowl and game fish. The 5 acre property is located in north central Florida in a humid sub-tropical climate. The property slopes approximately 1-2% towards the northwest corner. The design includes swales on the front half of the property, with grazing cells for sheep, pigs, and chickens/ducks/geese/turkeys in between swales. The swales will be planted with food (for humans and animals) and fodder trees incorporating the seven layers of a forest. A small food forest (for humans) and kitchen garden with aquaponics system is situated near the house in zones 1/2. A medium sized pond is planned for the back half of the property for stocking tilapia. We hope to renovate an existing 100 year old cabin on the property utilizing as many off-grid properties as possible, including composting toilet, rain catchment and storage, and greywater usage. We hope to eventually be able to use the property as a demonstration small acreage permaculture farm.
