Tikondane Community

This amazing small community has started some projects on site, is trainig locals in permaculutre and runs outreach programs to the surrounding poor villages. Tikondane community is located in an area that contains many poverty stricken farmers. The community has begun projects onsite including keeping goats, pigeons and rabbits, baking bread using a solar oven, running a guesthouse and community hall, and teaching and selling crafts such as weaving, soap making and sewing. It runs education courses for local villages on the "19 steps out of poverty" starting with composting and living fences. They have also begun teaching students of their academy about permaculture as a means to improve their skills and employability. The community is always keen to have volunteers interested in helping out, and its a lovely place to visit. Additionally, they would welcome more experienced permies with resources to correspond and suggest solutions to difficult problems.
